So guys...I just might've bought another kimono. Okay no yeah I did buy another one. But okay, first off it was on sale and secondly look how cute it is! It's a different style from what I have, and it was floral *insert emoji with heart eyes*. I bought it without thinking what I could wear underneath or what scarf I could wear. There's only so many colors you can wear with this such as white, light blue, magenta, and different assortments of purple. I thought I was stuck because I had tried a white tunic underneath but it wasn't giving me the look I wanted. But then...of course as purple always does, it saved the day! And I totally forgot about this scarf color that I had, it's actually quite vibrant which is different from what I normally wear but it's good to venture out when it comes to scarf colors. Simply threw it all together and bam! You know you like it, even if it's basically another kimono outfit!

Well for all those taking exams still, oh how much I don't want to be you...but good luck, you are almost done! And for all those done, wooooo we're done!!....well until summer classes!

Just writing the title already has got the song stuck in my head but hello my lovely fashionistas! It's Monday, and we all know what that means..it means 4 more days till Friday! So blogging and looking at other bloggers made me realize that people try looks that could appeal to as many as people as possible and that's good! But everyone's got their classic look and putting this together made me realize that it's been some time since I've got to wear and share my classic look of meshing pattern-blocking and color-blocking. I had actually just bought this polk-a-dot dress and even though I probably have a lot of polk-a-dot tops...eh what is one more going to do right! It's perfect for the summer and all my hijabis out there because it's loose, flowy yet flatters you and keeps you cool because of the material (wow, I should just get into advertising because you know I sold it to ya!).
I'm thinking it'll be my summer dress, or one of them for that matter. You may have felt you've seen this too many times, but sometimes you just want to your classic look so hope you still loved the outfit and see you next Monday!

This outfit makes me feel like the girl from Wild Thornberry, except I don't have a talking monkey as a friend. Ever look in your closet and say "what would happen if I put these two together?" Well that is what happened to me. At first I had thought to my comfortable jasmine black pants on them to suit the summer "look," but then I fell upon these khakis which I've truthfully had for quite some time but never actually wore, so I figured it was their time to shine. I'm usually not a fan of mixing colors such as khaki/cream and white, but sometime we need to step out of our box. And with the help of a fashion tip of a good friend of mine, the combat boots perfectly pull the colors together! The vibrant mustard yellow scarf adds the spontaneity and "ready for adventure" touch. And who says you can't accessorize when you're on an adventure, thus the arm candy! The jeaned blouse over the striped shirt seemed the appropriate cardigan to give this outfit its adventurous look. It's the "I have a dream" look

Whether African-American or not, whether American or not, everyone is familiar with that quote said by none other than Martin Luther King (by the way you guys are in for a good read :D). Yeah sometimes we joke around and say "I have a dream that school will end and summer will come," but today's outfit is inspired by the dream in your heart and following through with it. Everyone has a dream, everyone wants something and it's kept, as cheesy as it sounds, in everyone's heart. So if you have a broken heart, mend it. If you have a lost heart, focus and find what you're looking for. If you fear that when you say  "I have a dream to do what's in my heart" won't come true, kill that fear and just follow what's in there and you'll get there. DREAM BIG. And NEVER I mean NEVER think you can't achieve that dream. Well that's my motivational rant for the week!
 But as every outfit comes with a story, this week I decided wearing this loose-fit flowy heart covered shirt and pattern blocking with one of my favorite floral scarves that I haven't worn for quite some time. Now let's time talk about this new item in the closet committee...first off, that maxi dress was too cheap not to buy; I'm enjoying how though it's like a maxi, the slits let you add a dash of color. A part of me was not sure if I should do boots or gladiators since it is a maxi but the slits let you work with either.

I blame my bro for this picture

I know -- first think you're going to ask, "where has stylebyfj been!?"..or maybe not, and if that's the case, then awwwwkward. You deserve an explanation as to my temporary disappearance and I'm sorry I hadn't posted, trust me I was missing it! But just as last year, in respect for the time we (as in Muslims) take to commemorate the sacrifice of the Holy Prophet's grandson, Imam Hussain and his family, I decided not to post. And just recently I was extremely blessed enough to visit the grave sites/ shrines of him and his family in Kerbala, Iraq during an auspicious time called Arabeen ( click on the link to read about it! ----> http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/sayed-mahdi-almodarresi/arbaeen-pilgrimage_b_6203756.html ) This trip was beyond what words could describe and a part of me still thinks it was too good to be true to happen, but with prayers it did.

 Okay, so that's basically what I have been up to but now I am back! And right in time to do the last post of 2014! Where did this year go, I honestly have no idea. But it's times like this where we reminisce on the good times of this year and how much we have accomplished (or in my case, wanted to accomplish *insert laughing emoticon here*). This last post unlike last years post, has got some meaning to it. And it relishes in that scarf, which oh my gosh how much do you love that color! I finally found THE color of blue I was looking for and I promise you if my eyes could turn into hearts like the emoticon, they would have. Not only is the color so attractive and just a very pretty color, it's bold and just straight up POPS. And to make it stand out more, I've made it the only colorful part of the outfit as the rest is mainly black with the exception of the spotted black and white blouse. And yes of course, I had to add some edge with the combat boots, I couldn't help myself and you guys know how I love my combat boots.  But, moral of the outfit is that just like the scarf, I want us to each start our new year bold and bright! I feel like I'm a motivational speaker right now, but I was once told about the law of attraction -- if you think positive, you will attract positive. So start the year off positive and hopefully it will be a good year!

I apologize for writing rather massive paragraphs but it's been so long since I've talked to you guys and I could probably continue talking, but I shall save my words for the new year posts!

Had a disagreement about sharing a photo

When you take one item of clothing and turn it into a whole other piece, that's when it becomes a shape shifter. And if you have a few shape shifters in your closet, then you know you're shopping right. These pants obviously look like palazzo pants, but it's actually just my romper I blogged a while back (when I was in NY I believe)! All I did was look for a solid, preferably chiffon material shirt that was long enough in the back but not so long where it would look awkward on top, and make it look as if I don't know how to wear clothes. If you have romper such as this, where the pants are bell bottoms with an extra flare, then put a top on it and make them into palazzo pants! As for the colors, because it is still summer time despite how close it is coming to an end ( :/ ), I thought of mixing the pastels of a coral peach and chunky mint ring which matches the design of the aztec print. Hope you guys love my shape shifting idea as much as I do! Only a few more summer fun outfits left, so keep posted! :)

Sometimes we all just want to be that vibrant, "wow-that's-a-bright-color" one in the bunch. Because it's summer, and I'm going color crazy, I picked up this cardigan (and on sale too!) and played with it until it found its right match, and let me tell you, do they work together or what. When I said a cobalt blue maxi should be considered an essential, I meant it. This color works with almost anything that can work with black and probably dress it up more (or at least brighten it for that matter). So if you haven't bought yours yet, go buy one! Of course the only purse that would wrap up with it well is this one that you have become so well acquainted with. Also, I added the brown belt just to kind of balance the bright colors ( similar to the bag's effect on the outfit), so when in doubt if you're outfit seems like too much color or they're off balance, try adding a brown (camel color if possible) belt! Well, hope you guys love this rather vibrant outfit for the summer and of course all those mosque nights that are still yet to come! Keep up the #myramadhanootn :)

To all my American and non-American friends, Happy 4th of July! I think the color scheme for this outfit is pretty explanatory. But one item of this outfit that I'd like to point out is the scarf! It's my American flag scarf and probably one of favorite scarves to buy because I mean what hijabi (who lives in America) wouldn't want one :D Hope you guys love this holiday fun outfit and hope you're decking out in red,white,and blue too!

Water was cold!

I had to take advantage of the fact that I could get a change of scenery for my blog post this week, so I decided to do a beach bum outfit! It is so comfortable and if you ask me, super cute ( but that's a biased opinion of course). The cover up that I'm wearing is probably used as beach cover up, but since I'm a hijabi and nobody got time for bikinis, I'm wearing it as a kaftan (as my cousin and I call it). I saw this in an H&M in New York City when I was shopping and I really wasn't sure how I would work with it, let alone how it would look on me, but I had to buy it because of the cheetah and solid black on the back. When my brother saw me where it (he first asked what I was wearing), he asked why I'm wearing such dark colors and so I explained that I'm balancing with a vibrant peach coral scarf, but of course he didn't understand (or well wasn't listening). You will more than likely see this again but in a totally different look or theme I should say (yeep so excited I wish I could post it tomorrow but I can't!). I put my black high low underneath only because the material of it sat well with the kaftan but if you ever have something like this, feel free to have fun with the colors. Hopes you guys loved my beach bummin' outfit and look forward to more!

A selfie my cousin took while scarf fixing

It's that time.....FIFA World Cup 2014! Being on vacation really threw off my posting time, but as I always say, better late than never! So as you saw last week, I added some new stuff to my closet and so majority of this week's outfit is quite new. I've been really wanting to wear crop tops, because they are always so cute...but that can be kind of difficult when you're a hijabi...until you figure a way around it :D So one, you can wear a crop top on a maxi easily! Or (and this may be a little more complicated), but you can wear it as I'm wearing it here! The only reason it is complicated is because you have to look for the right black shirt (or slip) underneath that isn't too snug ( obviously in order to maintain hijabiness) but also not too flowy where it makes it look like you don't know how to wear your clothes. I bought this crop top because it is so comfortable and light, and I've always wanted a shirt with hearts on it! Since it was about the World Cup, I felt a shirt with hearts for all the soccer lovers out there worked. And of course since I think any shape can pattern with other shapes, I conveniently found a scarf that had a world map on it with a numerous amount of flags and thus coming up with the World Cup outfit!

I don't know why, but I will never get tired of using the term "yolo". And I apologize for those that get irritated by it. If it makes you feel any better, I had another idea for a title…but I didn't use it. Okay, never mind, maybe that didn't make you feel better. But I know what could make you feel better….this outfit! First off, my apologies for it being a day late! I'm actually not home right now, I'm on a mini vacation! And my cousin took me out to replenish my closet, and let me tell you, you will love what I got, because it'll all be blogged!

I was shopping one day, looking for something specific but of course end up buying something completely different. And that was a romper! For the longest time I did not think a romper would look good on me- but I thought hey, why not try it out! And I did and I loved it and I bought it (obviously)! It's a step out of my comfort zone to be honest, but I love it from the print, to the loose fit, to how bell bottom the end of the pants are. Of course when I bought it I couldn't help to figure out if I can pattern block it with something…and would you look at that, I could! And of course it's with that infinity floral scarf (that scarf is in the favorite pile because it just does so well matching with almost everything). The blazer was for fun and to really just make me feel cool and dressy but you could easily put a cardigan on it and it would still be cute. Well hope you guys loved this week's outfit and are looking forward to more! :)

I honestly didn't know how to relate this outfit to why I chose it besides the fact that it's just super cute and I thought I'd dress it up with the accesories and stay chic and classy with it by using pearls and my rose gold watch. Also, how much do you love the bag? Because I just love it. I've always wanted a duffle bag like that but they're usually too big but this one is just perfect and ah, so cute! It was a birthday gift:)

You know what can be labeled as a good study break? Making outfits for the summer of course! I haven't used this cardigan in forever and my mom and I decided to go "grocery shopping" when we really went to go eat wings (hehe). So I threw on this cardigan and grabbed one of my favorite scarves and bam! It worked, and what I really like about this outfit is how comfortable it is and so made for the beach. The cardigan is really light and loose and the vibrant blue with stripes makes it totally summer appropriate! Hope you guys love this week's outfit and yay finals are almost done so maybe I actually will wear this to the beach soon! ;D

Don't you love how a blazer and pumps takes a normal outfit of pattern-blocking from cute to a "I-need-to-wear-this-outfit-out-tonight" outfit, which is exactly what I did! When you never know what to wear to a semi-formal dinner with friends, when in doubt put a blazer on it and you'll be perfectly dressed for the occasion. And if you're feeling daring (like I was), then put some heels on! I fell in love with these when I bought them and they are surprisingly one of my most comfortable ones...well for the first hour, then you start contemplating about walking bare feet. So, this is basically how I would dress on a night out for dinner with friends and I hope you loved it (and if it not then at least the red pumps) as much as I did! Also, sorry for the late post, something called school was getting in the way -_-
