You know when you get a purse and you're like "omg I love it!...now which outfit do I wear it with?" Yeah, I had one of those moments when I got this super cute Aztec printed cross-body bag. Well I finally figured it out and I made this outfit one loud for sure. As if having a bold print for the purse wasn't enough, I just added a little color. Honestly though, it is just a little, just extremely bright :D My cousin had gotten the scarves but she told me she wouldn't wear them, so I figured I couldn't turn down an opportunity to wear a highlighter colored scarf and just stand out like no tomorrow. And so that's what I did. The long light denim blouse allows for all the mix of colors to somehow fuse into each other. You know how I love to contrast my colors, so I did so by wearing my favorite African flip-flops that has a vibrant blue beading, contrasting the neon orange. You just need to be a little creative and in a "yolo" mood to wear something like this. Also, yes I took all of these pictures with a selfie stick! To my friend that got it for me, thank you again!  Man can Florida get hot. It was so hot at the picnic yesterday, my face kind of felt like it was burning. But, hey who wouldn't come to visit here during the summer especially with all our amazing theme parks :D





          HI guys. I know I went MIA on the outfit posting for a few weeks, but I told you I'd be back! I guess I can call this outfit a classic "me" outfit because it consists a few things: 1) long and flowy, 2) a kimono (or komodo dragon as my fiancé calls it), and 3) floral print. I wore this outfit for our multi-mosque Eid picnic (which was very nice actually), because it's really light (material wise) and comfortable and it was long enough where I could wear leggings underneath instead of jeans or pants (because I honestly don't know how people do that in this weather).
But since it was for Eid, I dressed it up with a long chained necklace that I honestly haven't worn since probably high school. I think because my scarf style changed, I forgot how to wear the long necklaces. But since the high-low maxi is loose, I was able to throw it on and add a little fancy shmancy to the outfit. Of course I always have my rings...I love rings. With the komodo dragon having...oops, I mean kimono! Thanks irfan *squinty eyes to the side emoji*! The kimono has both the emerald forest green and salmon pink on it allowing for the scarf to flow well with the high-low maxi dress. Very simple outfit, even you could put something like this together! Well hope you guys loved the outfit and are having a fun-in-the-sun (or shade preferably) summer!

I didn't realize how such a simple outfit can balance out so well and look so good. First off, can we just admire the blazer. Is it an ordinary black blazer? No, no it is not. And why? Because it is actually of hijab appropriate length! Can I have a hallelujah! I was debatable about buying it seeing as it wasn't what I was looking for, but then I realized I would be doing something disappointing to all hijabis if I didn't buy it so technically I did it for all of us out there:D
But as you can see, the outfit is simple! Just added a little "flavor," I guess you could call it with the cheetah scarf and gold-chain tooth necklace (no that's not a real tooth guys).

Oh and yes of course, good luck to everyone taking their finals this week or next week or even after! We're almost done guys and then break!...well for a short time and then back to school *sigh* it never ends. Hope you guys loved the outfit and don't forget to look cute for exams!

Just writing the title already has got the song stuck in my head but hello my lovely fashionistas! It's Monday, and we all know what that means..it means 4 more days till Friday! So blogging and looking at other bloggers made me realize that people try looks that could appeal to as many as people as possible and that's good! But everyone's got their classic look and putting this together made me realize that it's been some time since I've got to wear and share my classic look of meshing pattern-blocking and color-blocking. I had actually just bought this polk-a-dot dress and even though I probably have a lot of polk-a-dot tops...eh what is one more going to do right! It's perfect for the summer and all my hijabis out there because it's loose, flowy yet flatters you and keeps you cool because of the material (wow, I should just get into advertising because you know I sold it to ya!).
I'm thinking it'll be my summer dress, or one of them for that matter. You may have felt you've seen this too many times, but sometimes you just want to your classic look so hope you still loved the outfit and see you next Monday!

It's the "I have a dream" look

Whether African-American or not, whether American or not, everyone is familiar with that quote said by none other than Martin Luther King (by the way you guys are in for a good read :D). Yeah sometimes we joke around and say "I have a dream that school will end and summer will come," but today's outfit is inspired by the dream in your heart and following through with it. Everyone has a dream, everyone wants something and it's kept, as cheesy as it sounds, in everyone's heart. So if you have a broken heart, mend it. If you have a lost heart, focus and find what you're looking for. If you fear that when you say  "I have a dream to do what's in my heart" won't come true, kill that fear and just follow what's in there and you'll get there. DREAM BIG. And NEVER I mean NEVER think you can't achieve that dream. Well that's my motivational rant for the week!
 But as every outfit comes with a story, this week I decided wearing this loose-fit flowy heart covered shirt and pattern blocking with one of my favorite floral scarves that I haven't worn for quite some time. Now let's time talk about this new item in the closet committee...first off, that maxi dress was too cheap not to buy; I'm enjoying how though it's like a maxi, the slits let you add a dash of color. A part of me was not sure if I should do boots or gladiators since it is a maxi but the slits let you work with either.

I blame my bro for this picture

I know -- first think you're going to ask, "where has stylebyfj been!?"..or maybe not, and if that's the case, then awwwwkward. You deserve an explanation as to my temporary disappearance and I'm sorry I hadn't posted, trust me I was missing it! But just as last year, in respect for the time we (as in Muslims) take to commemorate the sacrifice of the Holy Prophet's grandson, Imam Hussain and his family, I decided not to post. And just recently I was extremely blessed enough to visit the grave sites/ shrines of him and his family in Kerbala, Iraq during an auspicious time called Arabeen ( click on the link to read about it! ----> http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/sayed-mahdi-almodarresi/arbaeen-pilgrimage_b_6203756.html ) This trip was beyond what words could describe and a part of me still thinks it was too good to be true to happen, but with prayers it did.

 Okay, so that's basically what I have been up to but now I am back! And right in time to do the last post of 2014! Where did this year go, I honestly have no idea. But it's times like this where we reminisce on the good times of this year and how much we have accomplished (or in my case, wanted to accomplish *insert laughing emoticon here*). This last post unlike last years post, has got some meaning to it. And it relishes in that scarf, which oh my gosh how much do you love that color! I finally found THE color of blue I was looking for and I promise you if my eyes could turn into hearts like the emoticon, they would have. Not only is the color so attractive and just a very pretty color, it's bold and just straight up POPS. And to make it stand out more, I've made it the only colorful part of the outfit as the rest is mainly black with the exception of the spotted black and white blouse. And yes of course, I had to add some edge with the combat boots, I couldn't help myself and you guys know how I love my combat boots.  But, moral of the outfit is that just like the scarf, I want us to each start our new year bold and bright! I feel like I'm a motivational speaker right now, but I was once told about the law of attraction -- if you think positive, you will attract positive. So start the year off positive and hopefully it will be a good year!

I apologize for writing rather massive paragraphs but it's been so long since I've talked to you guys and I could probably continue talking, but I shall save my words for the new year posts!

We all have these times where the shopping was so good and we loved what we bought so much that we figure out as many different outfits as possible around that article of clothing. I just got this new cardigan of a style I didn't think would suit me but ended up wearing it to three different events on three different days. What can I say, it fuels my creativity! Hey, at least I'm using it to the best of its abilities. But on another note, have you guys noticed something different (*cough cough* look towards the shoes)? Yes, yes I actually did it. I have finally bought black combat boots. I didn't think this would happen because I wasn't too fond of the idea of black boots on outfits but now they have made their purpose in my closet. Oh don't worry I still love my camel tan ones a lot more, but these ones are just super cute and actually an essential;I'm planning on changing them up a little with a DIY activity that will hopefully be successful, but we'll see since it is I who is doing it.
Oh I can't forget about the scarf! It's also a new addition to the scarf collection; there was just something about the print that made me want it, along with the color diversity that makes it quite versatile.

For the next few months, you'll just be hearing (or reading) me go on about how much I love this weather because for us Floridians, when it gets 60 degrees...we bring out our cup of hot cocoa and tell ourselves that we need to have pumpkin spice lattes (when we all know that we really don't because it's still not cold enough).

Okay, onto the outfit! Today's outfit is actually a favorite of mine because of how easy it is to put together but also because of how vibrant it is yet still staying with the fall theme. I guess we can say we're getting into "sweater weather" and I actually don't wear this one too often but I bring it out with this outfit because it blends so well with the colors of the floral scarf and adds a pop to the gray and white chiffon polk-a-dot shirt. Because of the length of the shirt and sweater (or long cardigan as some call it), I topped the outfit off with my boots of course but you could certainly do flats or even converse or those vans styled shoes ( I don't know the proper terminology so vans styled is what I'm going with). Seasonal changes make you get more creative with your blog titles I tell you. Well last week I had blogged an outfit to cool off the summer so we can get warm for the fall. This warm isn't a going-to-actually-be-90-degrees-warm, but that warm weather that makes you want to create these color mixes and get pumpkin cream cheese on your bagel. I love my warm colors especially these two (plus a vibrant maroon)because they are so much fun to work with during this time of the year; they suit the season so well, and of course they look really good with combat boots (probably 98% of the reason as to why I like these colors). Of course I easily tied the colors with a scarf that had both in it. Now, I've never really had any sort of brown/ dark mocha based scarf but the pattern on this one was so pretty (and of course floral), I had to pick it up. Honestly with outfits like these, you have to trust yourself that the color blocking is appropriate and fits or should I say falls well together ;D You guys know how excited I get for fall outfit, except the 80 degree weather that just throws everything off...well, hope you guys loved this weeks outfit and are looking forward to what's to fall-ow (*follow...hehe get it)!

You guys...there's a week of Ramadhan left. Am I the only one that is processing that Ramadhan like..JUST started? *sigh* I hate when it flies by so fast. But, moving on, today's outfit is quite pink! And I honestly never thought I'd see myself in something so "girly" as I first thought it was, but this is one of my favorite maxis because it's ombre! And of course, I scarf searched and was looking for a scarf to match and at the time of putting this outfit together, this floral scarf was my favorite and just happened to match with everything, including this! So I worked with the colors and put a good length gray cardigan on top. As for accessories, the nude bag with studs was the perfect match (and you know how I love my studs to add some edge), a few pearl rings and a cute bracelet that yes has a butterfly on it (I surprisingly did not choose this bracelet....my brother did).

A selfie my cousin took while scarf fixing

It's that time.....FIFA World Cup 2014! Being on vacation really threw off my posting time, but as I always say, better late than never! So as you saw last week, I added some new stuff to my closet and so majority of this week's outfit is quite new. I've been really wanting to wear crop tops, because they are always so cute...but that can be kind of difficult when you're a hijabi...until you figure a way around it :D So one, you can wear a crop top on a maxi easily! Or (and this may be a little more complicated), but you can wear it as I'm wearing it here! The only reason it is complicated is because you have to look for the right black shirt (or slip) underneath that isn't too snug ( obviously in order to maintain hijabiness) but also not too flowy where it makes it look like you don't know how to wear your clothes. I bought this crop top because it is so comfortable and light, and I've always wanted a shirt with hearts on it! Since it was about the World Cup, I felt a shirt with hearts for all the soccer lovers out there worked. And of course since I think any shape can pattern with other shapes, I conveniently found a scarf that had a world map on it with a numerous amount of flags and thus coming up with the World Cup outfit!
