This outfit makes me feel like the girl from Wild Thornberry, except I don't have a talking monkey as a friend. Ever look in your closet and say "what would happen if I put these two together?" Well that is what happened to me. At first I had thought to my comfortable jasmine black pants on them to suit the summer "look," but then I fell upon these khakis which I've truthfully had for quite some time but never actually wore, so I figured it was their time to shine. I'm usually not a fan of mixing colors such as khaki/cream and white, but sometime we need to step out of our box. And with the help of a fashion tip of a good friend of mine, the combat boots perfectly pull the colors together! The vibrant mustard yellow scarf adds the spontaneity and "ready for adventure" touch. And who says you can't accessorize when you're on an adventure, thus the arm candy! The jeaned blouse over the striped shirt seemed the appropriate cardigan to give this outfit its adventurous look. I blame my bro for this picture

I know -- first think you're going to ask, "where has stylebyfj been!?"..or maybe not, and if that's the case, then awwwwkward. You deserve an explanation as to my temporary disappearance and I'm sorry I hadn't posted, trust me I was missing it! But just as last year, in respect for the time we (as in Muslims) take to commemorate the sacrifice of the Holy Prophet's grandson, Imam Hussain and his family, I decided not to post. And just recently I was extremely blessed enough to visit the grave sites/ shrines of him and his family in Kerbala, Iraq during an auspicious time called Arabeen ( click on the link to read about it! ----> http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/sayed-mahdi-almodarresi/arbaeen-pilgrimage_b_6203756.html ) This trip was beyond what words could describe and a part of me still thinks it was too good to be true to happen, but with prayers it did.

 Okay, so that's basically what I have been up to but now I am back! And right in time to do the last post of 2014! Where did this year go, I honestly have no idea. But it's times like this where we reminisce on the good times of this year and how much we have accomplished (or in my case, wanted to accomplish *insert laughing emoticon here*). This last post unlike last years post, has got some meaning to it. And it relishes in that scarf, which oh my gosh how much do you love that color! I finally found THE color of blue I was looking for and I promise you if my eyes could turn into hearts like the emoticon, they would have. Not only is the color so attractive and just a very pretty color, it's bold and just straight up POPS. And to make it stand out more, I've made it the only colorful part of the outfit as the rest is mainly black with the exception of the spotted black and white blouse. And yes of course, I had to add some edge with the combat boots, I couldn't help myself and you guys know how I love my combat boots.  But, moral of the outfit is that just like the scarf, I want us to each start our new year bold and bright! I feel like I'm a motivational speaker right now, but I was once told about the law of attraction -- if you think positive, you will attract positive. So start the year off positive and hopefully it will be a good year!

I apologize for writing rather massive paragraphs but it's been so long since I've talked to you guys and I could probably continue talking, but I shall save my words for the new year posts!

We all have these times where the shopping was so good and we loved what we bought so much that we figure out as many different outfits as possible around that article of clothing. I just got this new cardigan of a style I didn't think would suit me but ended up wearing it to three different events on three different days. What can I say, it fuels my creativity! Hey, at least I'm using it to the best of its abilities. But on another note, have you guys noticed something different (*cough cough* look towards the shoes)? Yes, yes I actually did it. I have finally bought black combat boots. I didn't think this would happen because I wasn't too fond of the idea of black boots on outfits but now they have made their purpose in my closet. Oh don't worry I still love my camel tan ones a lot more, but these ones are just super cute and actually an essential;I'm planning on changing them up a little with a DIY activity that will hopefully be successful, but we'll see since it is I who is doing it.
Oh I can't forget about the scarf! It's also a new addition to the scarf collection; there was just something about the print that made me want it, along with the color diversity that makes it quite versatile.

Seasonal changes make you get more creative with your blog titles I tell you. Well last week I had blogged an outfit to cool off the summer so we can get warm for the fall. This warm isn't a going-to-actually-be-90-degrees-warm, but that warm weather that makes you want to create these color mixes and get pumpkin cream cheese on your bagel. I love my warm colors especially these two (plus a vibrant maroon)because they are so much fun to work with during this time of the year; they suit the season so well, and of course they look really good with combat boots (probably 98% of the reason as to why I like these colors). Of course I easily tied the colors with a scarf that had both in it. Now, I've never really had any sort of brown/ dark mocha based scarf but the pattern on this one was so pretty (and of course floral), I had to pick it up. Honestly with outfits like these, you have to trust yourself that the color blocking is appropriate and fits or should I say falls well together ;D You guys know how excited I get for fall outfit, except the 80 degree weather that just throws everything off...well, hope you guys loved this weeks outfit and are looking forward to what's to fall-ow (*follow...hehe get it)!

That title rhymes, right? Just a little, because I kept on repeating it and I think I convinced myself that it rhymes. Well my fashionable fellows, this week we've got a hybrid. I've actually done this concept of mixing fall and summer clothing but this is different especially with kimonos becoming "the thing". You guys know how much I love my boots, if I could wear them all of June and July, let's be real here, I probably would. According to those weather dudes, the cool fall weather should be coming in now and you know what that means....pumpkin spice lattes and boots! But of course, Florida once to be the odd ball out which makes me work with the heat and fulfill my fall fashion!

Right when I bought this kimono, the first thing I thought of was how good it would look with my combat boots (I'm not obsessed with them, I promise). So I simply gathered the basics down: kimono, black dress, and combat boots. Now to figure out the color combination of the jeans and scarf. I had to figure out a good combination of a summer and fall color that of course won't look strange together. I couldn't help but use my peach coral scarf that I've been glued to this whole summer; and color blocked it with my favorite vibrant royal blue skinnies that mix oh so well with the camel tan tone of the combat boots (you guys know you love it)! I felt like wearing a big ring (since those are my favorite accessories), so I dashed on my chunky mint colored ring that correlates well with both colors.

In Florida it's actually not 80 degrees right now! Of course this won't last for too long, but I'm celebrating this attempt of "fall" weather by showing you my try at color blocking! The "cool" colors are not only really bold and bright (which I love), but their mixture is basically ice (the blue) mixed with a latte (the green), making an iced latte. And of course pattern blocking, when do I not do it? Or another more appropriate question is, when will I not include my boots in an outfit? Yes you could definitely put this outfit with a pair of cream-white flats (I say cream-white because that's the color of mine), but the boots just add the right touch!


Well for all you non-floridians or where ever you are in the world, if you're enjoying the cold , enjoy for me! And for those that are suffering with me, *sigh* I too wish I could control Florida's weather.

You can never go wrong with a classy black and white outfit, especially when it has heels included ;) Yes, I know...I'm actually NOT wearing my combat boots. Decided to give you a different style and classier outfit to start off after my short little break, I don't think there's much to say about matching black and white, seeing that it's pretty obvious ;)

This outfit is a classic mix for fall with a forest green cardigan on top of the salmon nude high-low skirt. Yup, that's a skirt, which it makes it all the more better to have in your closet because you can work it with other outfits! Not only are the colors mixing well, but the Aztec scarf (which of course bring all the colors together) along with the studded purse and combats boots add edge yet still has elegance with the cream-white lace shirt under the skirt, and of course the skirt itself! Hope you guys liked this week's outfit! :)

Honestly...it was matching at first sight when the blazer laid eyes on the black and white chiffon polk-a-dot shirt. Obviously they needed an instigator to get them together (me of course), but nonetheless, they're matching happily ever after. This week's outfit is just a mix of everything! We've got pattern blocking, a vintage edge look, and to top it off a vibrant blue blazer to put the "icing on the cake" for  this outfit!


Before, this outfit was going to be my infinity floral scarf with its variety of colored flowers and black background to tie with the chiffon shirt and what was to be green skinny jeans...but, I decided to change it up instead, giving polk-a-dots an upgrade from just being cute. I love putting this blue blazer with this kind of outfit because it gives a good balance of cute and chic/modern, and adds that splash of blue to the outfit, making it not so serious as a blazer should make an outfit. I just really liked this week's outfit because it's dressed up, but still maintains that simple and cute look. And then of course, how can you not put this outfit with combat boots? Well, actually you can, but it just completes the outfit so well! It coordinates well with the brown mesh of floral in the scarf, and let's be honest, it can just match pretty much anything (which is what makes me love these boots even more).

Hello my fashion lovers! Hope you guys are starting to soak up the fall weather (even though it's still 90 degrees in Florida), because I know I am. This outfit I think is a perfect way to get ready for the fall, because it has a few great combinations! To start off, the color of the dress! I just love it! It's a deep, but not dark purple because it's still a vibrant touch to it, that blends so well with the camel tan color of the combat boots. I honestly didn't like this dress at all, because I thought it was really boring, but when I matched a few things with it, I loved it! It has a flow to it, but not as much as high-low, giving it a "sweet&simple" tone to the outfit, and it's so much fun to spin in!
The scarf. Yes, it is the scarf, my favorite scarf. And I think we all can understand why at this point; it has so many great colors in it that's so flexible to match with a lot of outfits, and with this one, the purple and pink of the scarf really pop out. I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm almost always wearing something on top of a top, and this cardigan will probably be the least I will ever wear. I love it because of the cream-white color correlating with the cream-white of the scarf and lace pattern at the border and at the top, which just adds more to the "sweet" look As for my accessories, I added a gold-knotted head band, two pearl rings, and the nude studded bag (which again has gold in it). All three of these have the same tone and color of gold, making them work well together since they all give it that vintage but classy look.

Well I hope you all of you liked this week's outfit! I honestly think I liked it because of how much fun I had spinning in it :D

  Hello fashion lovers! Today's outfit is a very special one. Not only because it contains my favorite pair of shoes, but because I decided to YOLO and enter into a H&M competition across the nation! But we'll talk about that later. Yes, I know what you're thinking, "is she wearing a leather jacket and combat boots in the summer?" And the answer is yes, why yes I am! You can never get ready for fall too early:)

 I know I'm repeating my green skinny jeans again, but let's just say this outfit wouldn't be what it is without them. Let's start with the dress; it's a mint high-low that is made of a slightly sheer but soft linen material giving it the right the "flowiness" especially being cinched at the waist-line giving it loose pleats throughout the dress. It gives the outfit a sweet, chique look,but by adding the leather jacket and combat boots give it just the right amount of edge. What I like most about the leather jacket (which is also another necessary essential in your closet) is that it's not one of those biker/ punk leather jackets,but still gives you a 'bad' look, which is of course topped off with the aviators and boots. The scarf has the appropriate shade of green leaves and collage of light pink, yellow, and purple flowers, blending well with both the green skinny jeans and mint dress. This scarf does not clash but correlates with the braided belt (turned into a head band) giving a whole Grecian ("Greek") look to this scarf style. Not only that, but the light shades help match the nude pink color of the bag, which if you ask me, nude pink (with rose gold) and mint is great pastel combination. I know I said that this outfit would be incomplete without the green skinny jeans, and well that's not a lie, but what truly wraps up this outfit and just makes me love it so much are my boots. When I saw these combat boots on overstock.com, it was like love at first click; that's when I knew, they were the one for me. They make any outfit from plain, to giving an edgy-vintage look, and I absolutely love that. Do get used to these boots because they will reappear very often as the fall/winter season come in. I just hope you love them as much as I do:)
